The Patricia Fraser Memorial Trail project aims to create a safe off-road cycling and walking route for recreational users and commuters linking Ashhurst and the Manawatu Gorge from the city.

The intention is to present a petition to the Palmerston North City Council to urge them to prioritise this project.

They need your support to make this proposal a reality

Masters2010In case you weren't there Manawatu riders made a great impression in all cycling events at last weeks NZ Masters Games held in Wanganui.

The first event was the 1 mile time trial. This was on Tuesday night and was around the cemetary circuit where normally motor bikes race just after Christmas each year. We rode around the course in the opposite direction to the motorbikes. Top lap time for a motorbike was reported as 49seconds with a top speed of 180km/hr on the finish straight. With the cones placed tightly on each of the corners it meant that riders could not go hard and fast but had to slow down to ensure that you could get around the corner safely.

Much to our disappointment this was not a medal event and only certificates were presented.

Hi everyone.

We urgently require 6-7 entry level road bikes in small or medium suitable for young adults (11/12/13 yrs old) to start their cycling careers. Ashhurst School has been swamped with kids who want to emulate the amazing results of last years champions and "get off the streets and onto the roads". The demand for road bikes has exceeded our current stable of bikes. So if you have an old aliminum bike with shifters on the bars that you would either like to loan, donate or sell to TASC Force (Team Ashhurst Sports Cycling) please contact Ross Castle as quick as you can on 027 477 2548 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

It's wonderful to see so many young kids getting away from their xboxes and tv's and opening their eyes to one of the greatest sports and recreational activities on the planet. If you could help, or know a friend, family member, co worker, neighbour or even a stranger who has a suitable steed looking for some action, then please forward on my details. Thanks - Ross and the Ashhurst kids

Bike Manawatu is well represented in the team that has been selected to represent WCNI at the Track Nationals to be held in Invercargill.

Our best wishes go with all of the riders.

The Cycling Centre of Excellence bid was delivered to Sparc today by myself and Aaron Phillips on PNCC at 11.00am , 24 hours ahead of the deadline…there will be something in the newspaper tomorrow
