Not only can Bike Manawatu boast about its members doing marvellous things on the international and national arena but we also have amongst our members a national selector. Peter McCarthy has recently been appointed to take over the role as the BikeNZ Road Junior Selector. Peter has extensive experience in the cycling community, especially with juniors. He has accompanied many junior teams overseas and been involved in school cycling programs in the Manawatu.

Jesse Sergent says having an indoor velodrome in Manawatu would attract more people in the region to take up cycling.
The Team RadioShack rider got into the sport as a 12-year-old in Feilding after watching races at his nearby club.
Now 22, and in the top echelon of pursuit riders in the world, Sergent said he would like to see Palmerston North win the right to be the venue for the proposed indoor velodrome.
