Just to let you know in case you haven't had a look at the calendar for this week we are holding the Essex Cup on Saturday.

Ian Gray has been out this morning and riden the course. He has informed me that the metal section of the road is in very good order so shouldn't cause any problems.

The Essex Cup is an open handicap race. Ian Gray along with Mark Waterland are doing the handicapping so you need to have your entries to me by Friday morning please.

There is $400 in prizemoney up for grabs.
Registration is from 1pm at Ashhurst.

Jesse Sergent Photo: Elmar Krings Jesse Sergent pulled off a thrilling win in the individual time trial at the Eneco Tour. The 23-year-old made best use of the early, dry conditions to post a competitive time on the technically demanding 14.7km course, finishing 14 seconds ahead of Alex Rasmussen (HTC-Highroad).

"I did not expect this at all," said Sergent. "After my 7th place in the opening prologue, my confidence was up and I was hoping for a top 5 today. But my back luck of yesterday became my good luck today. I only had 2 kilometers on wet roads." For the full article click cyclingnews.com

On the day he was named in the long list squad for the upcoming world championships, Jesse Sergent claimed another stage win on the Pro Tour in France today.

Sergent, riding for his Radioshack team, was fastest in the 20km time trial on stage four at the Tour de Poitou-Charentes.

The kiwi was 18 seconds ahead of teammate Michal Kwiatkowski with fellow kiwi Sam Bewley sixth.

The win pushes Sergent into the tour lead with an 18 seconds advantage over Kwiatkowski with Peraud at 36s.

Below is the link to the points for the interclub races held so far.

After 3 events Wanganui is in the lead over Manawatu by 65 points which means that we need a concerted effort by all members to turn up and race this coming Saturday if we want to win the Interclub Trophy.

If we had the same people turn up and race in Halcombe as those that raced at Ashhurst for the Saddle Rd event and we had the same race placings we would win by 34 points.

So as a team lets see if we can achieve this goal and get our first bit of silverware in the trophy cabinet.
