Volunteering is a great part of being involved in any sports club – its vital to the running of the club and its events. It gives you a chance to give something back to your club, and you get to see what goes into keeping each race safe.

It is a requirement for all  Club Members who have identified that they want to race to volunteer for a race as a race manager or to assist with marshalling and race management. With out adequate club members support in volunteering at races we may not be able to deliver races for you to participate in.

You can select a race to volunteer for by emailing the This email address is being protected from spambots. It is club policy that if you do not select a race to volunteer at, one will be allocated to you.

Let us know if you are keen to manage a race when you volunteer. As a race manager you will receive plenty of support and we will provide you with an updated race managers sheet detailing the responsibilities of the role and also a  traffic management plan for your course.

The volunteer does not have to be you, it might be one of your supporters that will be cheering from the roadside at a race anyway.

Details on each race are on the calendar.

Are you looking for a new, fast paced dynamic sport?

track Sharon HollensteinTrack cycling may be the buzz you are looking for.

In March 2013, master’s women will have four National Track Cycling Championship events to contest on the indoor velodrome in Invercargill.

This year we had no master’s women riders from Bike Manawatu or the West Coast North Island centre (which we represent) competing at the championships.

Let’s change that in 2013!

Whether a current road cyclist or you compete in another sport, there are no barriers to getting started and progress is fast.

Bike Manawatu offers track bike hire, and the local Feilding track has no steep banking and free coaching is available (see below for details).

The benefits of track cycling are:

  • General fitness-An excellent workout where you can avoid traffic and continuous head winds.
  • Mastering a new skill-Rewarding and you will be surprised how easy it is.
  • Improved bike handling-Excellent cross training for road cyclists, triathletes, and mountain bikers to fine tune skills, improve speed and power.
  • A competitive challenge-WCNI centre and national championship events to contest plus the NZ Masters Games in Wanganui in February 2013.
