USO-"UNDERSTANDING-STRENGTHENING-OVERCOMING"

On October 13th - 26th, 2012, a group of 10 Pacific Island and Maori men including our own club member, Kelly Lawton,  started their journey at Cape Reinga to cycle south on a mission to ride the length of the country to raise cancer awareness for Pacific Island and Maori men who feature poorly in the statistics.  While they realise their message applies to all men, Get Checked!, Exercise Regularly, and Make Healthy choices.  With the support of Cancer Society NZ they are holding community fono/hui following the end of their days riding to engage with our pacific island and maori community along the way.

Would you like to ride the NZ Master’s Games track events, but are unsure about the Wanganui Velodrome?

Well good news, BikeManawatu Men and Women have an exclusive booking on Saturday, 15-Dec-2012, 10.30am–12.30pm for training, charge $10 for track hire.

The NZ Masters Games is the perfect competitive event if you are new to the track as two of the four track events are timed individual events, the 500m Time Trial and 2000m Pursuit, so it's just you on the track.

Race categories start from 35 years in 5 years group.

In the past several age categories have had no or low entries when this event was held in Wanganui so your chance to get amongst the medals!

Coaching Survey

Thanks you to everyone who completed the survey. The questionnaire was sent to 210 BM members, with 59 responding-18 female and 41 male. Six questions were asked of the respondents. Only 5 stated that they had no interest in coaching support. Of the 5 coaching options suggested, the most popular response was for “Rider Information Presentations” with 65% wanting this option. Next was a 54% response to “Practical Group Coaching” Sessions. From the information gained we will do our best to deliver coaching support to all BM members with the resources that we have available. Currently there is a big track focus with these initiatives given this month’s start of the track season. However, we will be scheduling a number of road presentations and clinics over the coming months for BM members.
