2012 has been the most successful on record for our school cyclists and more recently seen a number of our students rewarded with selection to Bike NZ age grade development squads.
The awards and afternoon tea will commence at 2.45pm in the Ashhurst School Hall following the hill climb event at 1.30pm. Registration from 1pm in the hall.
All students please bring a plate for afternoon tea.

I am sure that we in the Manawatu have a few such athletes equally inspired as Burnie. Please read this story.

Three weeks ago Te Awamutu Cycling Club ran their first track race night of the season and a young kid Burnie came down to race. I asked him if he had ridden the track before and he said “no, just watched it on TV at the Olympics”. He was set up on a bike and started in the ‘newbies’ races. Two race night’s later Burnie is riding B grade and winning races. He has an awesome sprint and never gives up.

It turns out that Burnie drew Simon Van Velthooven out as his athlete at school to follow during the Olympics. And Rhino’s performance in London and the way he conducted himself inspired Burnie to take up cycling and put his rugby aside to emulate Simon at the Olympics. Now that’s what it’s all about!

Since this date Burnie has sold all of his playstation games on trade me so that he can buy a metre of the new velodrome at Cambridge.

Emails will be sent to club members on the evening of Sunday the 18th November inviting them to click a personalised link to renew at www.bikenz.org.nz.  The personallised link activates their current information that has been moved into the new site, and greatly simplifies renewal into a 5 step process.

When they visit the site, they will see their suggested new membership, and current Club based on their 2012 licence.

Members can also join using paper forms, which can be sent to BikeNZ as usual. There will be no administration charge until the club portals are active and training has taken place.
