Laps of TaupoPlease note corrected date for Wal’s*final* Taupo lap of this series - Sunday Apr 14th 8am

Lap 53 now done, that leaves less than distance Cape Reinga- Bluff still to be accounted for.

My *final* Taupo lap of this series will be on Sunday Apr 14th 8am (7.30 register) BP Taupo.

There will CANTEEN personnel @ BP, a $10.00 min donation, you’ll get a bandana in return

This is just a TRAINING ride- NOT a *fun* ride, NO spot prizes- nothing at all, just a few guys/gals out for a cycle ride.  There may be a few Taupo riders front up as well.

BUT in view of the recent cycling tragedy last weekend - ( I was apparently about 5 minutes in front of the group) ALL bikes MUST have a working front & rear light attached & turned ON

WE MUST be seen to be doing our bit for Road safety, I DONT want ANY Racing - Crashes- Stupid riding e.g. NO HANDS-.

Just a social ride LSD to finish off my 10400km 65 laps. Could take around 7 hours, SO if its hot bring some cash- only water is at Tihoi or Turangi.

If you are looking for some racing action this weekend and are too old for the TeA tour ....

Cycling Wanganui have a club race around the Kai iwi Circuit, starting at Bason Reserve. A map and full details are on their websitehttp://cyclingwanganui.org.nz/

Having raced with them 2 weeks ago, it was fun and enjoyable racing in a new location.  They have lots of masters riders with racing grades to suit all abilities and they are very welcoming to out-of-towners.

If you have never club raced before or want to get some racing in before the Club Road Nationals, I would highly recommend making the trip.

The circuit is 22kms around.

A Grade – 4 laps
B Grade – 2 laps
C Grade - 1 lap

The entry fee for non-members is $12.

If anyone wants a ride (and doing B or C grade), I have room for 1 or 2 people. Text me 027 289 3444 (Megan)

Updated Rules

DSCN0475Friday 15 March saw my second trip up to Taupo to get in two laps of the lake with Colin. At the beginning of the month I had been up and ridden laps 26 and 27 and marvelled at the way Colin kept going day after day.
Now two weeks on I was there to ride laps 41 and 42. He was still knocking off the laps but with his left knee causing considerable pain after about the hundred kilo mark he was slightly slower, but not by much.(It was great to hear that after the lap on the following Monday the knee was improving.)
