Here are the results that Andrew has provided from his timing system. For those people that have 2 results those are the 2 different timing chips that he was trialling. I am not sure which one is which but interesting to compare these times to the times that we had recorded manually. I received an email from Andrew explaining -
We had originally intended that all riders be given two chips (1 seat post and 1 fork) for comparison purposes. With thetime constraints and number of riders we did not do this but I had set up the software so everyone had two numbers. This left a large number of DNS (duplicate) entrants which I cut from the spreadsheet to avoid some of the confusion. Having looked at the site yesteday I saw that when I did this I inadvertently also cut Hayley Giddens results from the list. Please accept my apolosies (and extend them to Hayley). I attach the list with Hayley back.
You also raise the issue of which of the multiple results is which. The seatpost tags are in a sequence 30 - 60, and the fork mounted tags are in a sequence 80 - 100. The results are a warts and all report so whilst they show the fork having the better of the seat by a fraction of a second, in our published results these traditionally are rounded so they both would have the same time.

Today we trialled for Andrew his timing system. And as the racers started to arrive they saw electronic timing mats being laid on the start line and all wondered if they had come to the right start line. For a club race it was a first and although the results from Andrew will come through at a later date it was all very interesting to see how far technology has come. For those that participated Andrew was doing a comparison between 2 sorts of timing chips, the paper ones that were wrapped around the seatpost and the orange ones that were cable tied on to the front fork. And if you took note of the paper timing chip they were from the Santos Great Bike Ride Rotary Club of Perth. Hope the trial worked well for you Andrew.
This was the first race of the season and a few new things were introduced behind the scenes to make club racing a bit easier for all involved.

Day 1
As a Massey staff member, and perhaps more importantly a cyclist, I was very pleased to learn that Jorge Sandoval’s NZ Cycle Classic would be coming to Massey Palmerston North. It’s not often that a UCI 2.2 level tour comes to your home town, so rather than watch, I organized Massey sponsored team and put myself down on the starting list. I’ve not done a big race like this since 2008, when the NZ Cycle Classic was run out of Wellington. Jorge organizes a quality race and, from what I’ve seen so far, this year in the Manawatu will be no different.

When I arrived at Kairanga there was a light drizzle that had set in. And the first to arrive rearing to go was Carne Groube with the big smile on his face that we have all come to recognise as his trade mark. His question to me was “Are we the only ones here again?” Well it wasn’t quiet 5.30pm and as registrations are not open until 5.45pm I suppose we should realise that there are only the keen ones about. Soon others started arriving and Kirsty Kaihau was spotted putting the signs up.

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be involved with a big bike race and not be a rider? Well it’s an awesome experience after I was lucky enough to be a part of Team Massey in the NZ Cycle Classic.
