clip_image002The Feilding Festival of Cycling (FFoC) is plotted for September 20 and 21. While there is roughly six months before the event actually kicks off, planning has commenced with a small core of volunteers from within the club who have formed the nucleus of the coordination committee.

The FFoC is one of Bike Manawatu’s key events in its annual calendar that seeks to achieve a number of outcomes. In addition to making a reasonable donation to the Order of St John in 2013, the event raised over $6K to contribute to the club’s balance sheet. For 2014 the committee seeks to improve across some key areas but this is entirely dependent upon the level of support the committee receives.

Many of us are already acutely aware that the success of many clubs and other community minded organisations is based upon the contribution of volunteers. Bike Manawatu is certainly no different in this regard and in 2013 the FFoC was lucky to have the support of Anne Redgrave, Matthis van Wagtendonk, Steve Challies and a number of other stalwarts.

BikeManawatuHorizontalA reminder to all our existing and budding members that next week we have the  4th AGM for Bike Manawatu.

There will be much to discuss and much to celebrate as we reflect on the past year’s activities and performance.

If you have an idea that adds value to the club or an issue that needs to be aired then this is your chance.

The 2015 subscriptions will be set and you can see and hear where and how your subs have been spent bringing all things cycling to our Bike Manawatu members and supporters.

There have been remits submitted and the accounts have been audited ( available on website to members).

It will be great to see a good turnout on Thursday 10th April at 7.00pm Marist clubrooms

Three Bike Manawatu riders have been named in the U17 Road NZ team to contest the Canberra Junior and Women’s Tour in May.

Robert Stannard, Campbell Stewart, and Chris Denholm have all been given the opportunity to represent NZ in the official BikeNZ team.

The strength of BM U17 riders is underlined by the fact that another three BM riders are listed as reserves (Carne Groube, Emily Shearman, and Libby Arbuckle).

The full team selection is available at the BikeNZ website: https://www.bikenz.org.nz/Story?Action=View&Story_id=554
