Last Sunday two track bikes to rookie riders were presented to Zoe Croton and Max Taylor. The selection panel were unanimous in the selections with each rider having being present at each meeting, presented themselves well and showed promise and determination in their riding!

The racing last Sunday was the best we have seen this season with finishes being very close in several races. It was a great finish by James Cuff to win the 4 Lap A Grade handicap and it was a photo finish when Mitchell Kinghorn just pipped Crane Groube in the final 16 lap race.

Some riders are getting out of the blocks to quickly by starting on the second whistle, not the gun and we will start asking the commissaries to watch this closely next Tuesday.

It was a real good days racing at the first WCNI Carnival, the renown Manawatu westerly was the only problem for the riders.

Luckily for officials and Spectators they received shelter from the wind, which made it somewhat more pleasant for them.

Thanks to all the officials that helped on the day- all did a great job!

A reminder to all riders- remember to check your track bikes every week prior to racing. On Sunday one rider turned up with no handlebar plugs which is a no-no for rider safety!! Handlebar plugs can sometimes mysteriously fall out and riders don’t notice them disappearing.

2. U17/ Open Women Handicap race (7 laps)

It was great to see last Sunday (9November) our biggest numbers at Feilding this season, and the riders produced some quality racing on a nice spring day.

Grant Shearman picked young Kyra Craine for the rider of the day award. Who in the 8 lap U15’s race rode a real gallant race from the front mark to finish 3rd; only being caught 20m from the line by Zoe Croton and scratch rider Max Taylor .

Gemma Payne is to be congratulated for breaking the senior Women’s 1 lap (Standing start) record in recording 32.76 seconds, breaking Hayley Giddens (Wanganui) time of 34.265 set in 2011. Hayley is now riding in a professional women’s team in the United States.

Chris Denholm unfortunately found out that bees do exist in Feilding, when one stung him in the lip (when he was going really well in the scratch bunch, in the final 16 Lap A Grade Handicap) and had to exit the track in a hurry and in much pain. Bad luck Chris. Good to see our first aid man Rob Gardner was quickly on hand to assist Chris.

Important news! U15 riders can ride this Sunday November 16, as a special category U15 Club section.
