BikeManawatu has introduced a beginners cycling ride run by BikeManawatu leaving Memorial park at 8.30 am every Sunday Morning - More information to follow.

We are good to go for 2015 Schools National Road Cycling championships!

An exciting change to the top school competition!!!
There will be 2 divisions
Top Senior Boys and Girls School
H.A Joli cup and A.J Drake Cup
For years 9-13
Top Junior Boys and Girls School
Chris Ginders Cup and Marie Laycock Cup
For years 7&8.
Points will be earned as in the past.
We anticipate only one crossover grade ... The u14 races. Those age group competitors will take their points to their respective divisions.
Eg if a year8 wins the u14 road races and a year 9 is second the year 8 takes his points to the junior competition and the year9 to the senior competition!
Important Notice - Nationals Road Race, Day Two.
After careful consideration by Race Officials, the Traffic Safety team and Event Organisers, it has been decided to run the Road Race as a left turn circuit. While riders will have to take extreme care negotiating the quick down hill sharp left turn from Watershed Road onto Colyton Road, this change will make all intersections and the finish much safer. Please note the new finish line on the attached map.

SCHOOLS GEARING
There have been numerous requests for clarification about gearing for schools events.

WE HAVE A VERY SIMPLE GEARING SYSTEM
Individual events
up to and including U17 a gear limit of 6.61 metres
then up to u20 a gear limit of 7.93 metres
Team Events
All ages up to U20 a gear limit of 6.61 metres.

The Elite Omnium National Championships and Workshop will run from Wednesday 24th to Friday 25th September 2015. The aim of the pilot programme is to revamp the Elite Omnium event and provide some more resource into developing the specific skill-set required for the six-discipline Omnium, looking ahead to Olympic Competition.

The three days will include a full day (24th) workshop which is open to athletes and coaches, providing education on the event which will include both theory and practical sessions delivered by our High Performance experts. The workshop will be followed by the two day National Championship competition (24th & 25th - two sessions each day).
