The planning for the Feilding Festival Of Cycling is on track and entries for our clubs major fund raising event are rolling in.

It’s about 2 weeks to go, and the $10 late fee applies after the 7th Sept. 

So we hope you will support the club and get your entry in.

Sport ManawatuDo you know anyone who might want to get into cycling, but needs the right starting point?

Maybe they might like to give the Sport Manawatu introduction to cycling a go.  It’s called Cycling Uncovered

Cycling uncovered has been set up to help build cycling confidence, knowledge and fitness for those new to cycling or those who love to cycle but need an extra hand with training.

This course includes 8 weekly training sessions, membership to the Bike Manawatu Cycle Club, the opportunity to learn from the finest cycling coaches in our community, a RideStrong cycle shirt and an entry into the Tour de Manawatu 50km on Sunday November 4 2012. You get all of this for only $99!!

Feilding Festival of Cycling

Yes fellow cyclists, the paddocks are full of lambs and the Daffodils are out.  That can mean only 1 thing.  Spring is here!

That also means the first cycling event of the new season is now only 24 days away.

Manfeild 2011
At the time of writing we have 218 people entered to ride in the challenge as either individuals or part of a team so it is set to be the biggest field in the history of the event.

Remember – It’s not too late to enter!!  Entries available on the day at Manfeild (No EFTPOS sorry).

We have participants coming form all over the lower half of the North Island. The first lap is scheduled for 9am and will be at a pace set by local MP and Patron of Bike Manawatu Ian McKelvie.

A heap of spot prizes are up for grabs this year including a special prize draw for Bike Manawatu members. Included in the prize draws are 2 flights in the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter.

Forecast for SundayThe weather may be another factor on the day. Currently the forecast is looking dry with light winds, but cold!!!

Tim Neal the Potato Guy will have his Baked Potato cart on site. He is fundraising for Nick Dunne who is competing in the challenge as a solo rider and later this year is competing in the worlds toughest endurance cycle race. RAAM or Race across America. All proceeds from Potato & Hot Soup ” donations “ on the day will go to Nick and towards the estimated $100,000 required to compete in RAAM
