We have three riders competing in Switzerland at the Junior World Track Cycling Championships, starting 20th July (at night in NZ).

Emily Shearman and Michaela Drummond will ride the Women's team pursuit on Wednesday, with Emily then riding the Scratch race and Michaela the Omnium.

Campbell Stewart will ride the Mens Team Pursuit, then the Omnium and Madison.

New South Wales gets tough on Cyclists...  Including $106 for not having a bell on your bike!

On the plus side, drivers can now be fined for driving within 1m of a cyclist... although how this will be policed is unclear.

The change in laws was announced by NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay as part of a crackdown on cyclists who break road rules in the state.

From March 2016, riding without an ID will result in a $106 fine and not wearing a helmet or holding onto a moving car will cost $319, while running a red light will incur a $425 fine.

This year’s prize giving and social get together was held at Hotel Coachman where 100 members enjoyed a delicious BBQ before a welcome from Board Member John Van lienen and Chairman Steve Stannard.

Campbell Stewart has been named as a finalist for the Halberg Sports Awards in the Emerging talent category. 

"Four promising athletes have been selected for the emerging talent award include pole vaulter Eliza McCartney, who broke a world junior record in December, and double junior world champion track cyclist Campbell Stewart. Tall Black and New Zealand Breakers development player Tai Wynyard and Dylan Schmidt, who finished 10th at the Trampoline World Championships, are also shortlisted."

Michaela Drummond's world champion and record team pursuit team did not make the finals for the Team of the Year, in a tough category, which includes the All Blacks and the Black Caps.

The winners will be announced in Auckland on February 18.
